Shani Mahatmya

The Incomparable Majesty of Saturn

Shani Mahatmya is a fascinating Marathi story about the sada sati (seven and a half years) life of King Vikramaditya. The story talks about the influence of Shri Shanideva (Saturn) and the means to obtain His Grace.

The action takes place in the city of Ujjaini. Hearing Vikram's disrespectful remarks about Shani, the king receives a curse and faces difficulties: he loses his kingdom, ends up in Tamalinda, where he is executed. By the grace of a woman, he ends up in the house of an oil merchant. Working and keeping faith, Vikram prays to Shanidev. As a result, Shani returns his glory and bestows even greater benefits.

The story focuses on compassion, loyalty, faith, confidence, patience and perseverance.
